Dragon Ball Anime Review

## Title: Dragon Ball 1986 - 1989

## Genre: Animation Action Adventure

## Short: Son Gokû, a fighter with a monkey tail, goes on a quest with an assortment of odd characters in search of the Dragon Balls, a set of crystals that can give its bearer anything they desire.

## Stars: Masako Nozawa, Jôji Yanami, Brice Armstrong

## Storyline: What begins off as a odd re-telling of the Chinese legend "Travel to the West" rapidly changes into pure madness. On a bent form of Soil, the incredibly solid child-fighter Child Gokû is joined by a few companions within the journey for the seven "Dragon balls", which, when gathered, will summon the Dragon called Shanron, who will give the conveyor of the balls one single wish. The issue is, the Grand Dragon can as it were be conjured once a year, and lowlifess fight Goku and companions always for ownership of the Dragon Balls.

## Review: Watching this show brings back the innocence we lose as we grow up. Amazing story line. A lot of efforts are made to make a great anime like this, and as an audience member who is lucky to get such content, it makes me happy. The anime has the right combination of comedy and humor. The action sequence makes us hyper at times. Characters have been given a lot of thought. Maybe what the manga writer wanted his manga to look like has come true.

Very satisfying series, and there is a lot more left for the story to continue the anime forward. A definitely must-watch anime. I absolutely loved Dragon Ball, and now I'm on Dragon Ball Z. Dragon Ball had a rather odd storyline, but I enjoyed every episode. Master Roshi made me laugh a lot! The adventures were super cool and fun to watch, and I really hated most of the villains! Especially Pilaf. He's so annoying and ugly! Overall, it was amazing. Dragon Ball Z definitely has a better storyline, and some of the villains were funny! Such as Piccolo, Vegeta, and Maaybee Frieza. I know Piccolo and Vegeta aren't bad guys anymore, but they started off as villains. Frieza was a bit annoying and ugly at times, but he was a little funny. I found some of them cute.

I think Majin Buu is adorable when he doesn't open his eyes. His voice is super cute, along with his personality. I don't really like the fact that he's a bad guy, but hey! Dragon Ball Z wasn't supposed to be full of good guys. The whole series is full of villains! I still think this series is amazing; it's by far my favorite anime, but I'm a bit confused at times. How did Trunks from the Future manage to get back to the past before the cell games, if Cell from the Future took his time-traveling machine? Did Bulma make a new one? Is that why he had to come back a year later? And didn't Krillin wish for everyone killed by Cell to be brought back to life? How come Android 17 didn't show up? If he were alive, wouldn't Cell have thrown him up like he did on Android 18? Why was Vegeta turned to stone when he tried to kill Majin Buu with the explosion? This is honestly my favorite animated TV show.

The reason I like this more than its successors is that it feels so much more adventurous and magical. I wish that this show was more widely available. I wish that every series was like this one; it isn't too slow-paced or too fast; it really builds on the characters that they give instead of tossing them to the side like they don't matter. The best sagas, 100%, were the Tien Shinhan Saga and the Tournament Saga. The Shinhan Saga was good because it properly introduced a new villain. It isn't like Dragon Ball Z, where it's just the last guy with one or two new powers and a bigger power level. Tien and Chiaotzu were formidable and had their own abilities.

The original Tournament Saga is also great because it felt so special, and even the non-main characters weren't just one-shot fillers because it had to be a complete tournament. On the other hand, I will admit that this show has a couple of "pointless sagas." My examples are the General Blue Saga and the Fortuneteller Baba Saga. The General Blue Saga felt like it never ended, and its sole purpose was to fill in time stamps. The Baba Saga felt similar; it was long and felt purposeless.

Overall, every other saga was decent. I feel like this show was better than Dragon Ball Z because it felt like a journey, not an average month. Seriously, in Z, GT, and Super, it felt like everything just so happened to occur in the time period, like Cell and Majin Buu. They just kind of happened. However, it felt like in Dragon Ball, the enemies appeared because Goku wanted to be as strong as he could be. Speaking of strength, in every other series since the first, it seems that they have added a new form. In Dragon Ball, however, he only has one extra form from what I remember, the Oozaru.

In every other series, Goku has gotten at least two new forms, most of them in Super and Z. Z has Super Saiyan 1, 2, and 3. GT has Golden Oozaru and Super Saiyan 4. Super has Super Saiyan God, Blue, and Ultra Instinct (Omen and Mastered count as two different ones). But it seemed that in Dragon Ball, Goku had to rely on himself. Also, in Dragon Ball Z and Super, I hate how Goku has to "go easy on" his opponents just so that he doesn't absolutely destroy them. At that point, Goku has become too strong and makes even the smallest fights feel like nothing because, you know, say it with me, "Goku is going to win." I love Dragon Ball the most. No Super Saiyan rainbow, no effortless power, and most of all, no wait for Goku! Dragon Ball is going to be my top animated series for a long time. Sometimes it is true, "Nothing beats the original."
